Tech events to attend in the first half of 2019

Tech events to attend in the first half of 2019

What tech conferences should you look into in 2019 to get inspired, develop your social network or learn the latest trends?

Twenty eighteen is almost over and it’s time to make plans for the new year. Whether you want to get inspired by some encouraging keynotes, develop your social network or get up to speed with the latest tech trends, conferences are what you should put on your 2019 roadmap. There’re so many of them out there that it would be hard to attend them all. Obviously, both time and budgets are limited therefore we picked a few events that we believe are the places to be in the first half of the year.

January on the British Isles

The first destination that we recommend to include in your 2019 conference tour is London’s Bett - a trade show with a long history. Since 1985 it’s been marketing information technology in education and became the world’s biggest and one of the most important EdTech events out there. We’ve been there last year and it made quite an impression on us! In 2019 the British Educational Training and Technology Show focuses on the real needs of the education community discerned through their annual research. Between the 23rd and the 26th of January 800+ companies, 103 startups and over 34,000 attendees are going to inspire each other, share their ideas and discuss the future of innovation in teaching and its role in advancing the work of tutors and educators. This year, Bett’s organizers decided to let the visitors take even more out of the three days in London and introduced Bett Lates, content seminars and networking meetings that will take place after 6 pm. It’s an opportunity to meet some powerful EdTech practitioners and influencers such as Neelam Parmar, Matt Harris and Abdul Chohan.

Shifting gears a little, let’s take a look at CIO Ireland Dialogue, held in Dublin. The event takes place on the 22nd and 23rd of January and is one of Noord Group’s series of events addressed to CIOs, CDOs and Directors of IT. It’s an opportunity for leaders of large enterprises to exchange hands-on executive experiences and drive each other to do business in accordance with the latest management practices. It brings together c-level leaders from 60 industries allowing them to benchmark with trade experts meet their peers.

“Good event, well run and a good way to gain insight into the challenge, and views of others in similar positions” - Global IT Director, DHL (delegate)

Mobility February

Our proposal for February is all about mobility. NEM360, that will take place on the 7th of February in the capital of Sweden, brings together companies from fields such as IoT, Analytics, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Digital Workplace and App Development. This one-day event may be short but it covers a wide range of topics such as Big Data, AR, Hybrid Cloud and Digital Workplace. This year’s edition is going to be all about how to securely connect everyone and everything across the enterprise using the most innovative solutions. Among over 20 other keynote speakers, there will be a chance to hear some insights from Elicka Lourenwall from Stena, Jean-Luc Bessede from Schneider Electric and Bo Follaug from IKEA. The Scandinavian market is rather hard to enter for service provides from other countries, that’s why attending Stockholm’s Nordic Enterprise Mobility Forum can be a good opportunity to get a feel of the way they do business and develop your social network by leaders of some promising companies from the north of Europe.

For travel-oriented businesses, the Travel Technology Europe is the place to be. On the 20th and the 21st of February Olimpia London is going to be full of exhibitors divided into two zones. In the travel technology zone, you will be able to discover the latest software development solutions for the travel industry. The other section is going to be showcasing some advanced marketing technology products that help companies maximize their business performance. CEO Kamil and CSO Michal are going to be cruising around the exhibition booths at this year’s TTE, so if you’re planning to be there too, be sure to catch up with them for a cuppa English Breakfast :)

March of startups and data

If you are into data, analytics and even more data then your plans for February are all set. The organizers of the Data Innovation Summit in Stockholm announced that this upcoming edition is going to be even more exciting than ever. This year the conference revolves around practical insights and tips on Applied Innovation, Analytics and Visualisation, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Management, Data engineering and IOT. The agenda includes speeches of representatives of some important players on the IT market, such as Clair J. Sullivan, Github’s Data Scientist talking about how to obtain information about open source development by graphs of code and Google’s Research Engineer Aleksandr Chuklin on the problem of enabling access to data through e.g. machine learning.

On another front, there is START Summit in St. Gallen, Switzerland between the 21st and the 22nd of March. The main aim of this event is to connect high-profile investors and founders together to give early and late-seed stage startups a chance to dive-in to the deep end of the market.

“At START Summit, we met Philipp Howaldt from MTIP, who turned out to be the lead investor in our series A investment round. This enabled us to further concentrate on our product and growth. Besides, the energy at the event was amazing." - Dr Alexander Koenig, CEO & Founder of Reactive Robotics

Tech is in the April air

On April 10th and 11th Ireland is going to become Europe’s capital of technology. Dublin Tech Summit is only two years old but already became an important spot on the map of top tech conferences. With over 10,000 attendees (us included) and 200+ speakers, such as NASA’s CTO Douglas Terrier,  Google’s Chief Decision Scientist Cassie Kozyrkov and FC Barcelona Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer Javier Sobrino, this 2-day event offers an exciting opportunity to be part of an environment of inspiration and thought-provoking idea sharing among leaders, visionaries and young minds. The last edition of Web Summit in Portugal was such an amazing experience for us, that it left us hungry for even more knowledge and quality networking, that’s why we decided to hit Dublin Tech Summit this year.

Proptech May actually be the FUTURE

The 5th edition of the world’s no. 1 PropTech event is going to be held in London’s Business Design Centre on the 13th and the 14th of May. On that special anniversary FUTURE: Proptech 2019 organizers promise some big-name speakers, numerous opportunities to network (meet us there!), innovative conference formats, case studies that your company can benefit from offhand, sponsorship opportunities, and cutting-edge technology showcases from newly established startups, through to the world’s most successful tech and real estate companies.

June filled with Big Data and quality networking

AI & Big Data Europe is one of co-located series of events associating specialists in fields such as IoT, Blockchain and Cybersecurity. The Amsterdam-based conference covers topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data & Analytics, Chatbots, Virtual Assistants, Business Intelligence Development and Deep Learning. We are going to be there mainly for networking with potential clients and partners, but it’s also a great opportunity to promote innovative AI brands and showcase products and services. Though if your main goal of attending conferences is lead generation and you want to develop your network of decision-makers, here’s some good news for you - the management of AI & Big Data Europe proudly proclaims that 56% of attendees are director-level and above.

Last but not least, Arctic15, taking place on the 5th and the 6th of June in Helsinki, calls itself the most effective matchmaking startup event in Northern Europe. It gathers startups, investors, corporates, media and influencers and circulates around topics from Digital Health and AI to Social Impact and Scaling. This year Arctiv15 aims for 300+ investors, 450+ startups, 150+ corporates and 2000 attendees and besides expert speeches, speed-dating sessions, workshops and demo stand posters, the core of the event is the Deal Room. The unusual but effective matchmaking solution makes it simple for companies to meet suitable investors and potential customers. If you are planning to close some deals in Finland, be sure not to miss it!

As you can see, these technology conferences have a lot in common. They are a powerful mean to develop your social network, meet influencers, get the latest news in your industry and reach out for new business opportunities. It’s also a great opportunity to get inspired by like-minded people and learn some valuable insights from some key experts in your industry who share their longtime experience. If you are planning to attend any of the events that we are, drop us a line and let’s catch up!
